Sharp Tail Ride.........

April 2005

The day turned out cool and gloomy with a threat of afternoon showers. amazingly, we had quite a large turn-out, with some ladies coming from North of Fort Collins and not all of them being Fox Trotters. We had a couple of Paso Fino's, 1 quarter and 1 Tennessee Walker join us.

After a picture taking session, we headed out at a good clip where we gradually climbed on top of some plateau's with views of towering red rocks, and back across the plains over the city of Denver with the sun peaking through.  We were steadily climbing up into old pine forests to our lunch spot. I sat eating my lunch and listened to old friends catching up and new acquaintances getting to know each other.

It was a very relaxing and rewarding moment. Our way back down the mountain gave us a bit of adventure. We finally got the threatening sprinkles forecasted, and some excitement when a horse refused to go over a water crossing. We must have created a bit of a ruckus, because a Red Fox decided to come over and join us. The rest of the way back to the trailers was uneventful (except for a few of us and our "HOT" Fox Trotters who were giving our arms a work-out trying to keep them at a regular non-racing walk).  the first place I went??? Off to find a hot cup of cocoa to warm my chilled body!!!!     Susan Herzberg - Prez
